A 10-year-old fighting brain disease makes a wish to give back to his town

BORDENTOWN, N.J. (PIX11) -- He could have wished for anything in the world but his wish was to give back to his community.

10-year-old Ayden Ugo-Alum is fighting a rare brain disease - one that only a handful of doctors in the world specialize in.

But on the day he and his twin sister turn 10, he was honored with a key to the Township, followed by a wish come true. With the help of the Make-A-Wish foundation, as a thank you to the community for rallying around him, his wish was to throw the town a party.

"No matter what he's going through - he's going through a ton," said Bordentown Township Police School Resource Officer Adam Edwards, who has known Ayden for years. "To see a constant smile on his face and see a constant bubbly personality, it warms your heart, man."

As part of the community, Bordentown Township Police jumped in to help Ayden in his fight. Last fall, Ayden's family was the beneficiary of the Department's annual No-Shave November Fundraiser.

"We get together with our local restaurants, our local business sponsors, and everything like that," said Edwards. "We were able to raise a ton of money for these families. It's great to be able to give back to the communit...
