PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) -- With the Olympic Games going on, we’ve been hearing a lot about “the GOAT” or… the greatest of all time. And certainly, some of these world class athletes deserve that title.
But, I go thinking. You will find a “GOAT” in almost any profession or walk of life. You know… the one who is the best at what they do. Taking it a little further, it occurs to me that we all have the opportunity to aspire to “GOAT-dom.” We can try to be the GOAT in whatever our sphere of influence may be, whether in the home, in the office, in the gym or classroom, or in the church!,
But just as with those medal-winning athletes, GOAT-dom doesn’t come easily or without a lot of hard work and sacrifice. We have to be disciplined- be on time, keep our promises, do the hard work without complaining, even when we don’t feel like it. We have to persevere, keep on keeping on. even after we make a mistake, suffer a loss, or just don’t feel like it.
Most of us will never be in the running for an Olympic gold medal. But all of us can strive to be a GOAT whether we are a parent, grandparent, employee, employer, friend… and person of faith.
In the scriptures we are told in Ecclesiastes that whatever work we do, we should do our best. And in Colossians we are told we should not just put forth a minimum effort. This week, why don’t you join me in listing the things we can do to become a GOAT… no matter what our life’s work or calling may be?
