SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The cooler temperatures won't last the rest of the month. Here's what to expect for the second half of August.
Cooler than average temperatures during the second week of August will soon be replaced with warmer, above average temperatures.
Strong northwest winds yesterday ushered in much cooler air. In fact, we had to keep an eye on some of the record lows as temperatures fell to the 40s this morning. And temperatures tomorrow morning will once again fall to the 40s and low 50s. But things will soon change, just give it a couple of days.
That's when a ridge in the higher layers of the atmosphere will start to build to our south. As we have more of a zonal pattern early next week, temperatures will return closer to average.
By the time we reach the weekend, it will be above average.
Keep in mind, cooler temperatures this time of year is normal as average highs continue to fall. After all, we're losing more than two and a half minutes of daylight per day, and that's a trend that continues into November.
