ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Altoona Curve hosted a life-changing parade for nine local children with disabilities.
On Thursday, the children were presented with adaptive bikes and strollers. After they received them they were able to ride their new bikes on the field for the first time.
Five-year-old Baylee from Sproul received her new adaptive bike and adaptive stroller. Her mom Katherine shared why the equipment means so much.
"Baylee can't balance herself on a normal bike. With an adaptive bike of her own, Baylee will finally be able to go out and ride bikes with all of us! She can be like her big brother and sister without having to wonder why she's the only one not riding a bike. This will bring our family closer together," Katherine said.
Five-year-old Weston from Cresson also received a new adaptive bike and stroller.
"The adaptive bike will impact Weston in more ways than one. It will benefit Weston with muscle development and movement, circulation, joint modality, core development, coordination and balance," Weston's mom Jessica said.
