Shortly after 1 p.m., officials said a cap dislodged on a water pipe and covered a large portion of the first floor and basement with water. Twenty-two patients were transferred to other facilities, and the emergency department remains on diversion.

The hospital said it could be three to four days before all services are back up and running. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The Albany Memorial campus no longer offers inpatient services but is home to specialty and outpatient services.
