STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — State College's Alpha Fire Company celebrated serving the community for 125 years Saturday.
Members of the community had a chance to experience what firefighters do every day, such as praying the hose, taking a ride on the lift and sitting inside the trucks. Some items from the company's history were also on display.
Those working with Alpha now say it's an honor to be part of something that's been serving the community for so long.
"It's so cool to think that I get to participate in something that has such a rich history and so many people that have contributed to where it is now and where it's going to be. It's really something to be proud of," Tsunami Sharmba, a firefighter with Alpha Fire Company, said.
Alpha Fire Company is always in need of more volunteers and is encouraging anyone interested to apply.
