MOBILE, Ala (WKRG) – Mobile Police and Mobile Fire-Rescue are investigating a large truck fire early Tuesday morning on southbound I-65.
Police and fire rescue responded to an Amazon delivery truck crashing off the right side of the road into a ditch on southbound I-65 near the I-10 interchange around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to Mobile Police.
When authorities arrived, they discovered the truck was on fire. The blaze ate through the truck, leaving the cargo hold a smoldering wreckage that burned for hours.
The southbound lanes on I-65 were closed for several hours.
The fire caused extensive damage to the truck.
As of 4:00 a.m., the left two lanes southbound are open while the right two remain closed.
There is no word on the condition of the driver.
