Los Angeles' own Angel City FC has announced that ten current and former professional women’s soccer players will be receiving money and resources for establishing or growing their businesses after their playing career.
The team’s Player 22 Small Business Grant Program equips players with funds, resources and coaching necessary to further develop opportunities for women in the workforce and to foster women-owned and women-led businesses, Angel City FC said in a media release.
“Each player participating in this 12-month program will receive funding for their business, one-on-one coaching and access to over 200 hours of video-based business learning, plus startup tools and resources.”
The funding comes from the team’s 10% sponsorship model, where 10% of all sponsorships are relocated to impact; among the program’s sponsors are HubSpot, Justworks, PNC Bank, Johnnie Walker and Payscale, as well as grant service IFundWomen.
