SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) - Happy Wednesday, Utah! The sun is shining which means we're tracking hot temperatures across the state! While it is forecasted to be dry for the next few days, a weekend cold front will bring cooler temperatures and more widespread thunderstorms.
Daytime highs will be in the upper 90s for most with a few spots like Salt Lake and Provo having triple-digit potential. Meanwhile, higher elevations will be in the upper 80s to low 90s while hot spots reach the mid 100s.
Humidity levels quickly dropped Wednesday morning leading to an elevated fire risk for the Wasatch Mountains Wednesday afternoon and evening. Westerly winds, low humidity, and hot temperatures set up for critical fire danger.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Wasatch Mountains through 9 pm. Winds of 10-20 mph are expected with gusts up to 30, humidity as low as 10-20% will be likely.
The good news is that a wet weather pattern looks to develop for the state this weekend into next week. By Friday we'll begin to see an uptick in moisture.
A cold front is slated to move through over the weekend which could bring isolated thunderstorms across the Beehive State and knock down temperatures to average. We may continue cooling into the low 90s by next week, fingers crossed!
