INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Many families in Indiana are facing a health care affordability crisis as costs continue to rise, leading to difficult choices regarding essential medical care. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is taking significant steps to address these challenges.

The increasing costs, on top of rising prices for groceries, rent and utilities, have put unprecedented economic financial pressure on Hoosier families, causing many to delay or skip necessary health care services. Senior Vice President Beth Keyser at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, highlighted that high rates of adult smoking and obesity are exacerbating the crisis, leading to higher health care usage and premiums.
