MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — At least eight people reported injuries Wednesday evening after a pickup crashed into a Chili’s restaurant in Martinsville, police say.

It happened about 5:35 p.m. Wednesday at the restaurant at 620 Birk Road. That’s about halfway between the I-69 interchanges for State Road 252 and Artsian Avenue/Ohio Street.

Martinsville Police Department said in a news release issued Wednesday night that a black 2018 GMC Sierra drove into the dining area. Emergency crews from several agencies responded after Morgan County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls.

Eight people including the truck driver reported injuries. At least three people went on their own to IU Health Morgan hospital for evaluation. Police described the injuries as ranging from complaints of pain to serious conditions not believed to be life-threatening.

The department asked any witnesses or involved parties to contact the nonemergency dispatch phone number at 765-342-5544.

The Morgan County Serious Crash Investigation Team will determine the cause of the crash, the release said. The Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office will determine if the driver will face charges once the investigation is done.

The restaurant has not posted any information about its status on its social media. News 8 reached out by email to the Morgan County Health Department for information.
