DENVER (KDVR) -- If you're hoping to take a dip in the water to cool down in the coming days, you'll have to find a place other than the Aurora Reservoir.
Due to high bacteria levels, the swim area at Aurora Reservoir is closed as of Wednesday, Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space said in a post.
The kayaking, paddle boarding and boating sections are still open to the public, but the agency said while bacteria levels are high, it is best to not swim in the water.
It is normal for bacteria levels to elevate sometimes. The swim area was closed earlier this month for the same reason.
"Like any untreated, natural body of water, levels of certain bacteria fluctuate. It cures itself naturally, but when the levels are elevated, it’s best not to swim," the agency said.
