DENVER (KDVR) - Four wildfires have burned thousands of acres of land in northern Colorado in the past week, causing structure losses, evacuations and one death so far. While Colorado communities have given outpouring amounts of support, some might not be going to the right places.
The Boulder Office of Disaster Management is concerned about scams in the area.
On Thursday, the department reported possible fundraising scams for local fires.
"Be careful about clicking on links within emails and make sure you only open emails from trusted sources. Do research about the organization before you donate to ensure it is legitimate," a post from Boulder ODM said on X.
Disaster management told FOX31 that someone received a suspicious email with a link to a "fundraiser" for the Stone Canyon Fire.
