Bicyclist, 71, seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A 71-year-old man riding a bicycle was seriously injured after he was hit by a vehicle in Chula Vista Sunday afternoon, police say.

Chula Vista Police responded to several calls for a vehicle that collided with a bicyclist in the 1600 block of Wueste Road in Chula Vista at 12:27 p.m. Sunday.

U.S. Border Patrol officers were the first to arrive at the scene where they found a 71-year-old man with major injuries, according to Chula Vista Police.

The police department says the driver of the vehicle that hit the bicyclist was a Vista woman in her 30s. She was detained by U.S. Border Patrol officers and arrested for charges unrelated to the collision.
