BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – Several Central Pennsylvania counties will receive funding to improve traffic signals and reduce congestion and traffic on the roads.
This is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s “Green Light-Go” program, which will provide more than $30 million in grants to 73 municipalities.
In Blair County, four townships will receive more than $1 million in grants to support four township projects. Centre County will receive the most funding: more than $2.3 million to support four township projects. Clearfield County will receive more than $700,000 for two township projects.
Governor Josh Shapiro and the Department of Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll announced the funding, which will allow communities to improve traffic flow by upgrading to newer detection technologies.
The new systems will allow traffic signals to respond in real-time to traffic demand.
