Broken water main causes problems for Benton locals, businesses

BENTON, Ark. –  A water main break in Benton on Thursday led to a road closure, impacting multiple businesses.

According to the city of Benton, a contractor hit the line earlier Thursday afternoon on Edison Avenue between Border and Cox Street causing people in the area to be without water and some without business.

Jaime Arellano owns Bright Stone Complete Auto Service on Edison Avenue where the water main break happened and described seeing crews responding to the issue.

“Then all of a sudden, we see the utility trucks coming by, and we said ‘Hm, something happened,’” Arellano said.

“After that they blocked the road, and we have no customers for my wife, that she runs the food truck, so it's been dead all day,” Arellano said.

Arellano and his wife own a food truck also. Thankfully they have water flow, but no traffic flow to come eat or get repairs.

“Through the day we get tires fixed up, and everything, so there hasn't been that,” Arellano said.
