Call it whatever you want, the Denver Broncos took the practice field for the first time in 2024 Wednesday morning.
“I thought we moved around well,” noted second-year head coach Sean Payton after a brief but fast-paced workout. “We are ahead of schedule.”
In the first of two workouts before training camp officially opens on Friday, Payton had high praise for the 90 players on the field trying to crack the 2024 roster. And of course, all eyes were on the three quarterbacks — Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson — trying to gain traction and seize the starting position.
For veteran head coach Payton, going through the process of a quarterback competition is new. But not something he’s losing sleep over.
“I don’t think I stress over it, but I focus on it and pay attention to it," he said.
