Brooklyn NYCHA residents won’t have gas until October, 48 other outages

BED-STUY, Brooklyn (PIX11) – Over 150 apartments at a Bed-Stuy NYCHA development are still without gas after nearly four months, and gas won’t be restored until October, according to a NYCHA spokesperson. 

Part of the 433 Lafayette Ave. property first lost gas in April, according to an online monitor of NYCHA service outages. Some 156 apartments are still without gas and were given hot plates, according to a spokesperson for NYCHA.

“Gas service interruptions and restoration work are a matter of public safety and involve multiple partners and steps, including shutting off service, making necessary repairs, inspections, and coordinating with the service vendors, in order to safely restore service as quickly as possible. These processes are currently underway at 433 Lafayette Avenue,” said a spokesperson for NYCHA.
