Burglary suspect believed dead after standoff with police in Los Angeles neighborhood

A burglary suspect is believed to have been killed during an hours-long standoff with police in the Mid City neighborhood of Los Angeles Monday morning.

The initial call was received around 3:30 a.m. for a reported burglary in the 2600 block of South Halm Avenue, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed.

Arriving officers found multiple suspects and took them into custody but one was still outstanding and believed to be barricaded inside a home.

A SWAT team was called to the scene to assist in the situation, the spokesperson said.

Video showed an armored LAPD vehicle parked in front of the home.

Sky5 was over the scene at 7:30 a.m. where a sheet was covering the body of a person believed to be the suspect.

Police have not confirmed if the deceased person was the suspect or if officers opened fire.
