COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KXRM) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department is warning the public about lanterns, as well as general fire danger, after the charred remnants of a sky lantern were found at Garden of the Gods Park.

Thankfully, no fire was sparked by the lantern, though the discovery is a frightening reminder that anything could happen when fire danger is high, even when there has been recent rain.

"Just because we’ve had some moisture does not mean we’re off the hook!" the Colorado Springs Fire Department said on social media.
