Cambria County farmers voice funding concerns as farm bill stalls in State Senate

PATTON, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Cambria County Farm Bureau held a legislative tour of Thousand Hill Dairy Farm Wednesday.

Whether raising beef or dairy cattle, or growing crops, farmers face all types of challenges.

"Some of the issues that the farmers — other than the weather — we're dealing with on a normal basis our volatility of pricing and like, on our, on our site, on the dairy, the two biggest things is milk pricing and, you know, coming up with a clean cut price to make everybody happy," Chad Hoover, Co-owner of Thousand Hill Dairy, said.

While some things — like weather — are out of a farmer's control, others, such as animal welfare, can be addressed through legislation. To help learn about the problems, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau holds annual legislative farm tours throughout the Commonwealth, inviting state and local legislators to see first-hand how the work of farmers impacts the local economy.
