Car drives off pier near USS Midway Museum

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A driver is dead after a car drove off the pier near the USS Midway Museum overnight.

The crash happened around 12:35 a.m. Monday when the vehicle went over the Navy Pier, into San Diego Bay, San Diego Harbor Police said.

Divers with the police department retrieved the body around 2:20 a.m.

Authorities later pulled the white Honda Accord from 40-foot-deep water. San Diego police are investigating as the car matches the description of a suspect vehicle from a stabbing in La Jolla overnight.
