LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Court document from Dallas County show the formal charges made against the man accused in the deadly June mass shooting at a Fordyce grocery store.
The documents show 45-year-old Travis Eugene Posey of New Edinburg is facing four counts of capital murder and 11 counts of attempted capital murder for the June 21 mass shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce where four people were killed and 11 other people were injured.
Each of the 15 counts is a class Y felony, with the attempted capital murder charges carrying a possible sentence of 10 years to up to life in prison. If Posey were to be convicted on any of the capital murder charges, he would face either life without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
Records show Posey has been assigned a public defender and made his first court appearance on June 25. After entering a plea of not guilty, Posey is being held without bond in the Ouachita County Detention Center.
