CLEARFIELD COUNTY (WTAJ) - Clearfield County Commissioners discussed the County's jail staffing situation at their meeting on July 16.
At the meeting, they approved the addition of three new guards but also lost three to resignation and two to termination.
Commissioner John Sobel explained the difficulty of getting employees to stay at the jail.
"There are more jobs than there are applicants for employment. So we are finding a lot of them aren't staying as long as they used to," Sobel said, "Also younger employees, I think culturally, feel less and less obligated to stay at a position than maybe their predecessor did."
The next commissioners meeting to discuss the prison board is on August 20.
