Clearfield man claimed he was ambushed in apartment by woman's estranged husband

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a Clearfield apartment his estranged wife was at and ambushing another man.

Justin Levi Welker, 51, of Woodland, was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, possession of an instrument of crime and simple assault when police were called just after midnight July 29.

According to charges filed, police were called to an apartment on West Pine Street for a report of a loud fight in a neighboring apartment. Police noted the witness in the apartment said they could hear things being broken and it woke one of them up.

The victim spoke to police in the hallway and said that Welker broke into his apartment, even though the door was locked, and attacked him, punching him in the head and face. Police noted in the complaint that contusions and redness were seen and a cut over his eye was bleeding.
