CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — A disaster declaration has been issued as 42,000 Cumberland County water customers are either under a boil water advisory or without water service altogether.

County commissioners said in a media release that a water main break caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby is impacting three of the four acute care facilities in the county.

The declaration, the county says, allows officials to purchase needed supplies, employ temporary workers, and enter into contracts and agreements with vendors without the “time-consuming procedures and formalities normally prescribed by law.”
