Scattered showers continue across our eastern counties and should gradually taper off through the morning. We'll see some clearing and heat and humidity increase compared to Saturday, with highs in the upper 80s and heat index values approaching the mid 90s.
A few showers and storms may develop this afternoon and evening but activity looks to remain spotty. These showers and storms that develop through the heat of the day should taper off around sunset.
Overnight through Monday morning, a decaying complex of storms looks to roll through the region. There is a chance for a few strong wind gusts across northeast Missouri into west central Illinois, but the severe threat for our region stays low.
Dangerous heat returns come Monday afternoon with highs in the low 90s and heat index values of 105. Even hotter temperatures Tuesday through Thursday.
There is an excessive heat warning in place from 1 p.m. Monday through 7 p.m. Thursday for the immediate metro region for heat index values of around 112. The rest of the region is under aheat advisory from 1p.m. Monday through 7 p.m. Thursday for heat index values 105–110. A cold front may come through late Thursday into early Friday, bringing some relief to the heat.
