Delaware County jury finds teenager guilty of robbery and attempted rape

MUNCIE, Ind. — A Delaware County jury has convicted a teenage boy of 10 felony counts stemming from an October 2024 assault and a subsequent vehicle crash that killed a woman in Muncie.

Cameron Drummer, who was 14 at the time of the offenses, was convicted Monday of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, attempted rape, aggravated battery, three counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, causing death while operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance in his blood, two counts of causing serious bodily injury while operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance in his blood and auto theft.

The jury deliberated for about three hours following a trial that began Aug. 10.

Drummer was originally charged as a juvenile, but the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office successfully sought to have him waived into adult court. A Delaware Circuit Court judge granted that request after a waiver hearing held in January 2025.

Court records say the offenses occurred Oct. 8, 2024, when Drummer was 14.
