PIERRE S.D. (KELO) -- A state prison offender who was placed on escape status earlier this year is back in custody, according to a news release from the Department of Corrections.
Offender Curtis Milk was arrested in Santa Cruz, California on July 15th.
Milk failed to return to the Rapid City Minimum Center following a work assignment on February 2nd.
Failure to return to custody following a community assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
Milk is serving a two year sentence for possession of a controlled substance.
