JEFFERSON COUNTY (WTAJ) - Out with the old and in with the new! The Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company had their fire hall torn down on Wednesday July 31, in order for a new building to be placed in the same spot.
Due to many problems with the old building, which was built in 1922, the project was needed to be done sooner than they thought.
The company held fundraisers for the community to take part in raising enough money for the new building, and Chief Doug McAfoos says that the support they have seen from the community is amazing.
Even though the old building was just torn down, the new building is expected to be built within the coming weeks.
