EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Evansville police had a news conference Friday after a detective on Thursday fatally shot a 24-year-old man.
Caleb Webber died on the scene of the shooting at a home in the 500 block of Colonial Avenue. That’s in the Country Club Meadows housing subdivision southeast of the intersection of West Buena Vista Road and North First Avenue.
Sgt. Anthony Aussieker, the police department’s public information officer, said in the Friday news conference that just before 1 p.m. Thursday, a 911 caller told dispatchers that Webber was possibly overdosing at a home in the 500 block of Colonial Ave. That’s in the Country Club Manor subdivision southeast of the intersection of West Buena Vista Road and North First Avenue.
A detective in plainclothes, who had training in giving medical aid to people suffering from overdoses, went to the home, where he identified himself as a police officer, and a woman allowed him inside the home.
