SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — One week out from the end of this year's Olympics, athletes with ties to San Diego are already set to return from Paris with quite a few medals.
As of Monday morning, Team USA has nabbed 75 medals so far, including 19 gold, 29 silver and 27 bronze. While no country "wins" the Olympics, the United States sits about three medals behind China, who is currently leading in the gold medal tally.
A number of the awards headed home to American soil from this year's games were earned at the hands of Olympians with ties to America's Finest City. Here's a list of all the medals San Diegans have collected in Paris this year.
Street Skateboarding
Encinitas' Jagger Eaton, 23, was the first Olympian with San Diego ties to land on the podium during this year's games, securing silver in men's street skateboarding after a final described as one commentator as the “the gnarliest final of competitive skateboarding” he had seen.
