Family evacuated by Stone Canyon Fire assumes loss of animal shelters

LYONS, Colo. (KDVR) — A Lyons family is worried and asking for help after they say structures for their animals and farm were lost in the Stone Canyon Fire.

Families affected by the Stone Canyon Fire near Lyons were steadily arriving at the Boulder County Fairgrounds on Wednesday to bring in and check on evacuated animals.

What to do if you need to evacuate because of a wildfire

Brian Cornwell was with his wife at the fairgrounds and said his home was just a few houses down from the start of the fire.

"I was focused on the other fire and then out of the corner of my eye I saw another fire on our ridge, which is Eagle Ridge Road. So I took my Rzr down and saw it was at our neighbor's house that was just a few houses down and immediately came back and got two of the kids, two dogs and her sister and headed out," Cornwell said.
