ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - It's that time of the year as we are about to celebrate our nation's independence. When you think of Fourth of July, things to consider are the food, drinks and good times. However, the main attraction on this holiday are the fireworks that light up the sky.
"Probably like having stuff exploding in the air and like just the different colors and all that stuff."
That's what customer Juliette Fay had to say about her favorite part of Fourth of July.
"Last year some friends and I just went to watch some fireworks and like there was this big green one, it was like a face of the Shrek one and that was my favorite one," she said.
Mr. W's, a storefront in Odessa has a plethora of fireworks in stock that range from $10 all the way to $700, all depending on what the customer wants.
"We're going to have basically everything that you want. If you want a big show, we got everything for you. If you like artillery shells, small stuff, fountains." said Operations Manager Hunter McWilliams. "Whatever you need family assortment packs anything."
While fireworks are a fun tradition for many, local agencies have urged caution, especially when it comes to fire prevention.
The National Association of State Fire Marshalls estimates that fires resulting from fireworks cause around $20 million in property damage each year.
