Flight student's irreplaceable log stolen out of his car overnight

DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver man had his car broken into overnight, and one of the only items taken from the back seat cannot be replaced.

Jack Perko has always had his head in the clouds.

"I was always the kid that would hear an airplane and have to stop and look up," he said.

Earlier this year, Perko decided to finally chase a dream. He enrolled in flight school with the goal of eventually becoming a commercial pilot.

"It's the best thing I’ve ever done," he said.

Part of his training is logging every hour he spends in the sky, with a certain amount of hours required to earn a license.

“It’s your proof that you actually fly," Perko said.

Over 100 flights logged in student's quest for license

He's logged more than 100 flights, and on Wednesday night the log was sitting in a black and orange bag in the back seat of his car. When he woke up Thursday morning, his rear passenger side window was broken out.

“Initially I didn’t think that anything had been stolen, because I looked in there and everything else was still there," Perko said.
