DENVER (KDVR) — Flying out of any airport is a seemingly harrowing event in 2024, with technical outages impacting flights and customers, in addition to normal hazards such as weather.
A data extraction platform, Soax, analyzed data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics between April 2023 and March 2024, to find out which U.S. airports are the least reliable for on-time flights. Two of Colorado's airports landed in the top 10.
The study data only considered a flight delayed if it left 15 minutes or later than its scheduled departure. Additionally, only airports with over 5,000 departures between April 2023 and March 2024 were included in the final ranking.
“Uncovering which airports have the highest rates of delays provides an important insight into their reliability," said Stepan Solovev, CEO and co-founder of Soax, in a release. "This ranking may inform your next travel plans to potentially avoid some of the high-ranking airports or help you to anticipate potential disruptions, as this will lead to a smoother and less stressful journey.”
