LESTERVILLE, S.D. (KELO) - Tennessee might be the birthplace of country music, but out on a South Dakota farmhouse's front porch, you can feel the soul of the music.
"This is where country music is," singer/songwriter Elizabeth Jo said. "We live the life of country music. I think it's a lifestyle. I think it's a way of life and family and friends and love stories, sad stories."
Elizabeth Jo followed a path familiar to many South Dakotans. She grew up on a farm outside of Lesterville, graduated from Bon Homme High School and got her nursing degree at USD.
But then, she decided to take a road less traveled by.
"So, in 2021 after COVID cleared up a little bit, decided to make the jump to Nashville and really pursue music," Elizabeth Jo said.
