FWT warns public of donation scam

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - Fix West Texas is warning the public of an ongoing scam involving a group from a town in New Jersey.

FWT said in a post Friday evening that the group has employees at 20 different area locations, such as Target, Office Depot, and Grub Burger, asking for donation on behalf of Fix West Texas.

The non-profit is stressing that the organization has not authorized this group to collect funds on behalf of FWT, as the group retains a large portion of the donation for their own overhead.

FWT is, however, asking the public to be kind to employees who may be involved as it is possible they are also being scammed by this group.
