Gladys Porter Zoo hosts 20th annual Kids Appreciation Day

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Gladys Porter Zoo is hosting its 20th annual Kids Appreciation Day in honor of National Kids Day.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 at the Glady's Porter Zoo.

Children from ages 2 to 13 can pick up a coupon for a free child ticket with the purchase of adult admission.

Parents and children can pick up these coupons at any H-E-B location in Cameron and Willacy County and at any Chick-fil-A restaurant in the Rio Grande Valley.

During the Kids Appreciation Day event, children will receive a sheet that will lead them to activities stationed across the zoo. The first 1,000 children who pick up the activity sheet will receive a backpack filled with school supplies.

The activities will be centered around health, wellness, safety, animal conservation and others.

Children who complete the activities can enter a raffle to win bicycles, gift cards and backpacks filled with more school supplies.
