GRAND CANYON, Ariz. (ABC4) -- The Grand Canyon National Park has issued several water conservation measures following a failure in the Trans Canyon Waterline.
Park officials said the water line was shut off for repairs and as crews were repressurizing the line, there was a break. The break has led to an extension to the park's current water outage.
To help conserve water, the Grand Canyon National Park implemented mandatory water conservation measures for the south rim of the park. Park officials said the conservation measures require all park residents and visitors to conserve and reduce water usage in homes, hotel rooms, and campgrounds.
These measures include:
- No watering lawns or plants.
- No washing cars, boats, bikes, or any outside vehicle.
- Fill the sink with water while washing dishes to avoid running water.
- Utilize dry precleaning to scrape off food items before washing dishes
- Take shorter, less frequent showers.
- Turn water off while you shave or brush your teeth.
