ST. LOUIS – Ora Mayes can’t sleep at night over the loss of her 36-year-old granddaughter, Lisa Smith. The St. Louis grandmother said her granddaughter’s body was found Wednesday night on Bellerive Boulevard near Minnesota Avenue in the Carondelet neighborhood of south St. Louis.
Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are trying to determine the full circumstances of what led up to her death and have yet to discuss any possible motive.
Neighbors near the scene where Smith’s body was found said she appeared to have been badly beaten and then left on the street.
“Nobody should get that mad to just beat somebody to death,” Mayes said.
