Gulf Shores Elementary School teacher meet and greet eases back-to-school jitters

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — Students have been anxiously waiting all summer to see who their teacher is, and it’s finally time to meet the teachers at Gulf Shores Elementary School.

“I heard my teacher, Miss Pennington, is going to be really nice," a fifth-grade student named KJ said.

With over 1,000 students ready to get back to the books, Gulf Shores Elementary School was buzzing with chatter as students got to meet their new teachers and see their friends again after a long summer vacation.

“I have a really good class with a bunch of my friends, so I'm excited for it," KJ said.

And it’s not just the students who are eager for school to start back. Teachers said they couldn’t wait to meet their new students.

“We're going to make such huge waves this year, so I am ready to meet those babies and watch them soar,” kindergarten teacher Gwendolyn Merchant said.
