NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Hamilton County officials were warning residents to prepare for potentially record-setting flooding as the White River was expected to crest near 24 feet at 8 p.m. Friday in Noblesville.

The river, which measured 22.85 feet Friday afternoon, could surpass a historic flood record set in 1913. Hamilton County commissioners declared a state of emergency Friday morning as additional rainfall moved through Central Indiana.

County officials upgraded the travel advisory to a travel watch, recommending only essential travel, such as commuting to work or responding to emergencies.
