Heatwave kicks off today with record highs in the forecast

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) - Happy Monday, Utah! The high heat continues for the region today with temperatures climbing above Sunday's highs. Heat-related alerts are in place this morning through Tuesday night due to a strong ridge of high pressure to the south.

Temperatures will climb above average statewide with most areas five to eight degrees above normal this afternoon, and closer to 10 degrees above normal in northern Utah on Tuesday. 

Bottom Line?! High heat is continuing for the state with monsoonal showers for the higher terrain, and flash flooding remains a concern.
