Honolulu leaders to hold vigil in tribute to Maui victims

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- On this day one year ago, lives changed, lives were lost and as remembrances are being held across the impact zone on Maui, the Honolulu community shows their support from afar.

Leaders from across Oahu are set to hold a healing vigil "to pay tribute to the victims of last yearʻs Maui wildfires and share their continued support for the people of Maui."

Mayor Blangiardi, members of the Honolulu City Council, HFD Chief Hao, HPD Deputy Chief Horikawa, Honolulu Emergency Services Departmentʻs Dr. Ireland, Ocean Safetyʻs Acting Director Lager, Emergency Management Director Toiya, Honoluluʻs Medical Examiner Dr. Kobayashi and AMRʻs Danny Kao will join Kumu Mehanaokala Hind in the ceremony.

The vigil will be held at Noon and will be streamed live on KHON2.com.
