DENVER (KDVR) — The nonprofit organization that oversees the military Honor Bell is now in need.
The executive director of the Honor Bell Foundation said the extended van that transports the bell was recently involved in a crash.
"There’s no other bell, like it,” Laurie Kuntz said.
The foundation ended up having to dip into its reserve funds to buy a new van — about $80,000 out of pocket, Kuntz said.
The bell has tolled at more than 6,800 military funerals since 2016, mostly in Colorado and mostly at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
