MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Recently released prisoners in Mobile County could soon receive help finding employment due to a United States Department of Labor grant.
According to a Mobile County Sheriff's Office press release, $1.5 million was awarded to the workforce investment program Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training and Employment for helping people re-enter their community and workforce after being incarcerated at Metro Jail.
The release said SWAPTE will partner with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office over three years to identify 150 "justice-involved individuals" and get them the training they need to secure jobs.
Officials said the goal of the grant and partnership is to help reduce repeat crimes.
