
ICE Newark detains MS-13 member after prison release, citing drug and carjacking convictions
Newark, NJ – Federal immigration authorities have arrested an alleged MS-13 gang member from El Salvador following his release from federal prison, according to officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The arrest was carried out by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations unit in Newark.
Officials identified the individual as Luis Calderon-Martinez, describing him as a “criminal illegal alien” who will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings. The arrest occurred after his release from federal prison on March 27.
