SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — If you've ever wanted to see bats up close, now's your chance with two upcoming events hosted by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
At two upcoming events in August, members of the public will be able to take a closer look at the bats gathered for research purposes before they are released back into the wild.
The first event is on Friday, Aug. 16, and will go from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Alta Ski Area at the Wildcat Base parking lot. DWR said there will be outdoor presentations about bats. From there, attendees can go to the area where a netting survey will take place to see the bats up close.
The second event will be held on Friday, Aug. 23 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Mammoth Cave, which is five miles northeast of Duck Creek Village. DWR said around sunset, attendees will gather under the ponderosa pines to hear an informative presentation about bats. Nets will be placed near the mouth of the cave, giving attendees a chance to see bats and learn more about them as biologists conduct the survey.
