INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and Marion County Probation departments this week launched Operation Future Impact, leading to the arrest of four juveniles and the seizure of drugs and 14 firearms, the agencies said in a Friday social media post.
The operation was described as a proactive initiative aimed at reducing juvenile-related gun violence during the spring break season.
As part of the operation, Friday’s social media post said, more than 50 detectives and officers from IMPD’s operations and investigations divisions conducted home-visit compliance checks on juveniles under court-ordered supervision for serious offenses. The teams worked alongside probation officers to engage families directly in their homes.
The coordinated effort spanned the city, according to the post, which did not gives the names or other information on the youths who were arrested.
In addition to the weapons, the operation resulted in the recovery of several types of narcotics. Police seized more than a quarter-pound of of cocaine, about a half-pound of fentanyl and a small amount of crack cocaine.
